Weird Horror Film Festival 2026
We’re back!
Do you like horror movies? Do you like weird stuff? The Weird Horror Film Festival is returning for the second annual event!
Screening on June 13th at Newtown Community Centre in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, followed by a Zombie Prom at Moon Bar.
At last year’s SOLD OUT festival we screened 11 short films made specifically for the festival, along with some other creepy artistic delights, for a night of celebrating and awarding weird, horror-based, independent cinema.
We are calling out again for horror fans with any level of film-making experience to create a short film (up to 6 minutes and 66 seconds long) to enter for this year’s festival line-up. Films must have been created between April 6th and June 1st to be entered into competition.

Zombie Prom 2026
After this years screening of the Weird Horror Film Festival , shuffle on down the road to Moon Bar to let loose at our Zombie Prom, with live bands, a Slay Queen and Zomking crowning ceremony (which anyone attending can enter) plus more! Ticket options include discount with this years Weird Horror Film Festival screening or separate for those who’s rogor mortis isnn’t up to sitting through the films, but could do with a shake out. Guitar Wolf & Wild Zero Screening – Fundraiser

Japanese rock n roll legends Guitar Wolf joined us in person as we screened and celebrated the cult weird horror film Wild Zero!!!!
After the SOLD OUT screening at Pyramid Club Guitar Wolf held a Q&A session for with burning questions to ask before their show at Valhalla the following night.

A homemade Horror Film Festival , where you the audience got to create the films. Screening Sunday August 3rd 2025 at Newtown Community Center.
Welcome to the first annual Horror Film Festival. Bought to you by Black Flock Art Collective. We hosted a SOLD OUT screening and ate, drank, screamed, laughed our way through the films before finishing off with an awards ceremony to anoint the films on their successes.
